A new one for me in iOS 18... astronomy runs daily in background. Sometimes for 20 minutes. I am not using anything tied to astronomy, eg lock screens, so no idea why this appears. maybe a new 'feature' for it to run by default. Any idea how to stop it? No way I can see!

If anyone else has this happening… I have tracked the culprit down. It’s not even an astronomy wallpaper. It is the default iOS 18 dynamic one that for whatever reason is pulling astronomy into background running.
Wallpaper removed to another and all good now.

Was even happening on iPad as well as iPhone.

the only thing i can think of is that the default wallpaper was set to be dynamic (not always light / not always dark) with the timing set to be sunrise/sunset.

Correct. It was dynamic. But not sure why that needs astronomy running. Glitch I guess. Sunrise and sunset do not normally pull on astronomy.
