I just read this article: http://www.fool.com/investing/general/2014/03/15/the-box-that-could-hurt-microsoft-and-squash-apple.aspx

How will Apple respond to this? Is this comparable to the AppleTV or MacMini or.....Both?!

Everything I own is Apple. Iphone, mac mini, airport express, macbook pro and ipad. But to see what this chromebox is capable of and the price of $179 caught my eye. What do you guys think? Junk or Not?

It's more in between the TV and the Mini. The i3 4GB variant is more Mini than anything, though detractors will say it's not due to the OS.

It's something I'm genuinely tempted by, in particular since the i3 version's pricing isn't very appealing. If the i3 was $249-299, I'd be much more likely to consider, but at the current prices, base model + another 2 GB stick would be the way to go.

I'm thinking of a Chromebook or the ASUS Chromebox to replace my ancient MacBook (in sig) as my casual every day machine and then get a gaming rig/Steam Machine later this year.

Motley Fool is nothing but click bait. I wouldn't take anything they write seriously.

Had mine for a couple days and love it!

-Boots in less then 5 seconds
-Almost dead quiet (has a fan but you have to put ear to device to hear it)
-Chrome OS is nice and simple (simple in a good way!)
-I hooked it up to 1366-768 lcd tv with hdmi cable (font's were fuzzy, and no way to fix) bought display port to vga adapter at bb ($27) and it now looks great...I hear hdmi normally works great, except for 1366-768 so if you have, get adapter!
-Chrome OS as of now has no power setting (goes to sleep after 8 min) which is kinda of a pain...way around is to download from app store "keep awake" extension...will place small icon on top right of chrome browser that lets you pick default, screen only will go to sleep, stay awake always...trust me get this extension asap!

After two days using this device,I can say it is one of the best computer purchases I have ever made!

Any questions feel free to ask...
