i have been really interested since the original version buthave never seen it on sale here in poland so have never bought it. hope the oneplus doesn't go the same way

Arrived today!! Just getting everything set up and will have full impressions and pics later. But my first thought is wow this is a great deal. The only con so far is the design more so for the tablet/station I have to get past the thick bezel
I must have been the first customer to pick mine up as every rep in the store wanted to help/watch the initial set up.

So I've had a chance to play around with it for a few hours and spec/performance wise it's right on par with my Nexus 5 but with a much better screen and camera. Asus kept the skin very minimal and it works like you would expect it to. The transition to tablet mode is seamless but you will have to add some apps that aren't programmed natively with Asus's Dynamic Display app in mind. It's easy but does add an 1 time extra step. The really great thing is you can transition at any time and not lose your place in any app or game.

The things i'm not liking so far are minimal but may cause me to return it unless support increases for it.

1. Only a couple of $80 cases are currently available which is understandable considering it would be extremely difficult to create a case that would allow you to insert it into the tablet. So really the only thing 3rd parties could do is create the battery flip cases that Samsung popularized a few years ago.

2. A few popular apps have not been updated to work with the Phone or Tablet mode and Google play will not let you install them. Google Now launcher is needed asap! I'm sure this will be fixed over the next couple of month's.

3. While it's a solid device and does not feel cheap it could have a much better looking design. Asus has created awesome looking products in the past but I think Att wanted to keep the cost down so that's probably what played a part in it. I would love to see what apple could do with a concept like this.

At the end of the day I think this is a good device for most and it's a nice convenience for the price but having two different devices may work better for some.

Reminds me of the Motorola Atrix and dock. I had one....but there just wasn't enough support for it. Then AT&T disabled the ability to use the Atrix cellular service for data while docked unless you paid an extra $10 a month for that service. That killed it for me.....

I side-loaded the Google Now Launcher and a few other apps that for some reason would not install from the play store and everything is working just fine. After using it over the last couple of days it's been awesome transitioning back and forth between the phone and tablet modes for different apps especially when you want to view something bigger in a matter of 2 seconds. I've tried to make it lock up by switching out the phone quickly but it has never once faulted to make a smooth and quick transition. It just works!

Right now I'm still on the fence on whether to keep it mainly because right now developer/community support is non-existent on XDA or other sites and 3rd party accessory support. I've got 14 days to decide.

I own an Atrix and the Lapdock after getting one during the firesale AT&T had once it flopped for about $200 total with no contract. One thing I know is this is definitely not an Atrix curiosity as this functions perfectly and as you expect it would. There is no promise or need to create a wholly different app eco system to take advantage of the dock as all you have to do is add the app to the dynamic display settings when requested once. As for AT&T in the future adding charges for docking maybe they learned a lesson with the Atrix
