Asus Watch

Has anyone seen this watch or know if it is in any way compatible with an iphone. The price is relatively cheap at 200 but i wonder if its any good.

I'm a Watch collector and enjoy gadgets of all sorts as long as they are useful. I too use an iPhone and I'm waiting for the Apple Watch, can't wait to get it.


Until it's released I have been looking at compatible smart watches for iOS and the Asus Zenwatch would be one that I would wear BUT I'm pretty sure it's impossible to work with iOS. All the others don't do it for me.

I had a pebble steel, although somewhat useful it was nowhere near the quality of the watches I normally wear so I sold it.

For me I only have one choice for the iPhone and hopefully it's available very early in 2015.

In saying the above, the Asus is a fantastic looking watch for android users only, if anyone knows how to get it working with iOS PLEASE LET US KNOW

Martian Notifier works with iOS. This is mine, although I do like the look of the Zen Watch. If it worked with iOS i would replace my Notifier for sure.

It must be set up with an Android device although it is not necessary for the watch to function. With a cheap Android phone or a quick loan from a friend, you can set up the watch, install any apps or games then use it (without notifications) or disconnect it from the phone (if it's not your phone).

Defeats the whole point off the watch. For now I will wait for the apple watch.

Well, not the whole point. You can't play games on an ordinary watch, nor can you easily change watch faces.

I did think about getting the Asus Zenwatch and the cheapest android phone as a gateway to get it started (I think it needs min os 4.3) to work. Not worried about the notifications as I will have this and all the rest of the goodies with the Apple watch hopefully soon.

I'm more into mechanical watches but also enjoy quartz watches (LCD, LED etc)

If the Asus can work once you set it up with an android phone and can function as a LCD screen that shows Time, Stop Watch, Countdown Timers, Alarms, Different Watch Faces etc without a phone, it will do more then my current quartz watches so probably worth going that way for us waiting for the Apple Watch. Yes its a little desperate but as a watch and gadget junkie i'm fine with that and sure the Asus Zenwatch will sell easy on eBay once the Apple Watch is available.

The battery will also last longer than 1 day because it won't need to be connected constantly to your phone so that will be another bonus

Yep. It's still more functional than a standard watch, even when not connected your main phone. And don't forget about the apps (that don't require a connection).

Also, I have no idea if it makes a difference, but airplane mode should stop the watch trying to regain connected ho the phone, saving even more battery.

Thats what i was thinking. This watch looks nice enough and if the apps work without a phone i might get one. Ideally i want an apple watch but i get the feeling they will push back the release date to more of a summer release. I dont want to wait that long without a smart watch.

I do hope Apple does not try and be TOO controlling over this aspect of their device. I fear they will be though

Microsoft Band is compatible with the iPhone.

It doesn't look like a traditional watch, but it displays call, messages, email, health stuff, Facebook, news, sports, weather etc.
