Hi all,

I came across a post in the Facebook Mac Pro upgrade group where a user upgraded the compute (Slot 1) GPU from a D300 to a D700. This is first time that I have seen this done. For those not interested in using an eGPU, this could be a nice way for them to get some better performance for multiple displays etc (by upgrading Slot 2 only).

Have any of you done this? what are your thoughts?

Thanks,
Rx

I think it would work vice versaa as well, macpro already has all the roms for the cards.

It's a neat exercise, but not worth it for the vast majority of users. Most will lack the technical skill to even attempt such an upgrade, and the price to performance ratio isn't good. A 1080Ti or Vega 64 plus eGPU would be a better setup in almost any situation.
