Way back when gv mobile was on the app store, I bought a copy. It's been working great and continues to work great over wifi. As soon as I'm in a 3g zone only... logins fail. Pings to the google voice servers also fail over 3g, yet work on wifi.

Something smells fishy here....

I too am in the exact same boat. Works perfect when on wifi, but as soon as i hit 3g it wont let me log in. Says my login credentials are incorrect. It really chaps me that AT&T is blocking this from working specially when we paid for this app that was approved in the app store.

I'm in the same boat but mine doesn't even work over wifi. Very frustrating.

Now THIS is exactly what that net neutrality will be against. Lets just hope it passes

It is possible that the code that allows it to log-in is failing because of changes on Google's end and the developer can't update it through the App Store anymore...

But no, don't even consider the more likely of options. Go straight down that slippery slope.

I don't know if AT&T is blocking GV Mobile. If you have a jailbroken iPhone, you can download the 3G Unrestrictor app from Cydia and that should solve your problems...if AT&T is indeed blocking 3G access.

You're right. We shouldn't assume that just because AT&T has been shady about google voice in the past and pulled the app for no good reason other than they didn't want people using the service.

My GV mobile works on edge, but not 3g or wifi. I don't think this is AT&T's doing. The JB version is having issues also but the dev was able to patch it I think. Unfortunately, we who purchased the app legally can't get it.

It's fine to let the thought linger but it's much like when at&t blocked the 4chan IPs - everyone thought they were evil but, in reality, they had no easy solution and did what they thought was best. They could have said more publicly but didn't.

That would be fine... however, it was odd that it *always* worked on wifi, but not 3g... and that ping were not being received on 3g, but were on wifi. Tracecroute shows the connection being terminated at AT&T's routers. This means blocking traffic...

No problems here - I just made a call using the GV Mobile app (purchased from the App Store before it was removed) on my iPhone on 3G (Wi-Fi turned off).

My GV Mobile is still not working. I'm getting the invalid credentials error -but I can use google voice through safari without a problem. Any suggestions?

Yea, and I had this problem myself and it worked fine five minutes later. How about you show me a log of traceroute rather than just claiming that?

Google made a change to the login system. The conspiracy theories in this thread are interesting. However, there is no truth to them. The author of GV Mobile said a while back that current GV Mobile users will no longer have access because of this change by Google (unless you jailbreak and use his latest version on cydia).

Interesting

So it was not working for me at all. I just reinstalled on my 3gs, post todays update and it all of a sudden it worked. It is not working on my wifes 3gs and my spare 3g, that not have been updated.

I think they are doing something to block.

Again, no, there is nothing blocking GV Mobile. GOOGLE CHANGED THEIR LOGIN SYSTEM. I just stated this above. It may work for some but eventually, it will not work for anyone using the last app store release.
