So I have narrowed my MobileMe/ Mail app issue to AT&T blocking the SMTP server.

smtp.mac.com
smtp.me.com
port 25
port 587

and even my personal server smtp.pmcar.com are all blocked so I am assuming they all are.

If this is true is there another way to send with the Mail app?

I have put in a research order with local IT and AT&T, but I doubt they will help as they have not thus far.

Entourage does not work either... the issue is with the ISP.

Att does block port 25. However, if you call into tech support, and request to speak to a Tier 2 agent, you can request to unblock port 25.

This is ATT's way of keeping its customers from spamming (intentionally spamming or infected spamming). If you only used ATT's SMTP server, to send email, you would never notice this.

Its works, but then again so does a shotgun to turn off my laptop. :)

Your Campus Admins may block 25 and 587 to other networks too. It keeps them from having anything spamming on their network, and it lowers support costs. Try tracking down a wifi connection on a campus, thats spamming, with limited resources. Its doable, just painful.

Unfortunately, this comes down to this fact, it's the school's network and its their rules. If they do not want you using your mailserver, you can't, and there is little you can do about it. Other than hacking around their blocks, but that is not a discussion for these forums.

I would continue to press your IT guys for at least a reason or answer as to why. Maybe also setup your account to send out via the school's mailserver. If you have an ATT account, personal or otherwise, you could use that account to send email.

Also, make it known that this is a policy that should be looked into and possibly changed. If your stuck on campus, you should be able to use either their mailserver to send out emails (in your name/email address), or you should be able to use a 3rd party mailserver.
Just tread lightly, do not come off like a spoiled brat, a jerk or an ass. Make it a well thought out discussion, not a heated debate. It might get you far enough to actually speak to someone that can help.

Thank you very much for your time.

After further contact with Kennesaw's IT I have found that KSU is not blocking 25 or 587, but that AT&T is at a higher level. My next step is contacting customer service through my cell phone service, which is AT&T.

I will keep posting my results, and thanks again!
