I called to cancel my contract, and the woman said my phone will be shut off at midnight on November 25th, because that's the end of my billing cycle. Shouldn't it be shut off right away?

Yes it should be. For some reason, here of late, AT&T has been trying to tell people they have to wait until the end of their billing cycle to cancel. It's total BS. They can't make you pay for services you can't/won't use. Tell them to turn it off now or ask to speak to a supervisor.

Yeah I've never heard of this.
They want you to think it's going to shut off at "mid-night" but it really won't. . . then you will get stuck with charges you didn't intend to have.

Go directly into your local store and have them help you. They probably can't cancel in-store but at least you can speak to a supervisor in person.

The contract says that no matter when you cancel in your last month, charges are not pro-rated. Apparently its in the little booklet they have called terms of service, but the CRS told me otherwise on the day I canceled my service. I just went through cancellation and had to file a BBB and Attorney general's complaints to get reimbursed properly.
