I just bought an iphone 2g off of ebay. i currently have a samsung blackjack and am out of contract. if i tell them that i want to add the unlimited data plan for my blackjack, would i then be able to put my sim card in the iphone and use it without problem?

I don't know what data plan you're on now, but the 2G phones have a $20 data contract instead of the $30 one that the 3G (and S) has.

i have a family plan with my mom. she has the blackberry with her blackberry data plan and i have no data on my phone. i just wanted to add the unlimited data for my phone, (and obviously not tell them it was for my iphone), to use for the iphone

Sign up for MediaNet unlimited at $20/month for your current phone. Then just move the sim when you get your iphone 2g.

I just heard, that ATT is able to check what device you are using. If they detect the iphone, they will change your data plan to the iphone plan. Can somebody confirm that?
