It isn't clear to me, but I want to get the discount for cellular service on my iPad Pro that is being released Friday.

I currently have a 10.5" iPad on my account. I want to replace it with the new iPad Pro, and I want to get the monthly discount if possible (to offset the cost of the cell upgrade.)

From what I read, I need to have the new iPad pro added as a new line, verses simply choosing to replace the iPad on the existing line, correct?

After I add the line (with the $30 added line fee.....) I just need to go in and cancel the old (10.5" iPad) line, correct?

Thanks, I have read everything multiple times, but it isn't that clear to me.

Yes, you need to add a new line.

Check the fine print, though. I remember reading that if you cancel a line on your account within 90 days or something, you become ineligible for the discount.

I just decided not to bother. Too many strings attached and the discount is pretty small after you account for activation and plan fees. It's good if you're actually adding a new line. Not so much for upgrading existing lines.

AT&T made it enough of a pain that I couldn’t figure out how to get the e-sim up and working without going to a physical store. I just transferred the sim from my 10.5 and called it a day.
