"people on renewing unlimited plans will be able to avoid caps" appears to insinuate that you can't cancel and then get unlimited data again which will be a major downer for all those believing you will still be able to by merely signing up before the deadline.

ATT is not insinuating. They are clear about it. Once you cancel your unlimited plan it's gone daddy gone. So your choice is either a) Keep unlimited, but commit to paying $30/mo for as long as the eye can see or b) use 3G on a "as needed" basis but at a a potentially higher cost (assuming you use more than 2GB/mo).

If you have a 3G now best to get the unlimited plan now and at least see if you need unlimited or if you can get by w/ 2GB or less.
