Back in december I had bought a cheap GoPhone from Radio Shack. A few weeks later, I bought a second iPhone to use with that GoPhone sim card. It worked perfectly in the iPhone. I would even buy the 5MB media net plan and it worked out well for just using the widgets on the iPhone. I had about $20 in funds in this account still. This morning, nothing. The account is dead and nothing works. The website login tells me that there is no account associated with the phone number I am trying to login with. I call 611 from that iPhone and the recording tells me there are no funds in the account, that I need to refill. I would but a refill probably wouldn't work.

Apparently, AT&T is tracking people who have GoPhone plans (not the normal AT&T pick a plan offered to iPhone users in iTunes) and they are shutting them down.

Just wanted to warn people. It hasn't even been two months yet and they shut down the account already.

I'm going to call AT&T now and find out what happened but I'm sure I have my answer already. The phone still shows its activated with full bars and edge icon.

did you have to unlock your iphone to use it with a gophone plan?

When my iPhone was running 1.1.2, no. The sim card worked in the iPhone no matter what. After I upgraded the iPhone, I couldn't use the GoPhone sim in the iPhone till this week when Ziphone came allong. I unlocked it and the sim started working again. It wasn't the fact that the phone was unlocked, it was because the unlock downgrades the baseband.

1.1.3 has allot of things built in that check the sim cards now to help prevent people from using a phone without activation.

Anyways, to add to my post up there, AT&T shows the account was ported over to a landline phone without my knowledge or permission. Someone did it and I no longer own the number. They told me to get a new sim and activate my GoPhone then call them and they can credit my account with the balance that I had in the other account.
