I sold my iphone 3GS last week and bought a Sprint HTC Touch Pro 2 unlocked, I just played with the HTC phone 1 day and I had to get my iphone 3GS back so I bought a Refurbished 3GS.

My question is, they say is refurbished but by who? Apple or ATT? also they say it might have some signs of use, scratches etc? :( I read that after I ordered, I hven't received the refurbished phone yet is on its way.

Have anyone received a refurbished iphone scratched?

If you bought it from AT&T, don't expect it to be as new-looking as if you bought it from Apple. AT&T's Apple's refurb process is much better than AT&T's. I've read about users receiving their AT&T refurbs with fingerprints and very minor scratches on them.

Yeah right, Verizon giving away free iphones with sign up.
Maybe if they raise the ETF again up to $1000 :D

Why not? In a year or so, I wouldn't be surprised to see it.

The refurb may have small or very slight signs of wear. I bought my wife a refub 3G and its in really good shape and works perfect.

As someones who's gotten 2 refurb iphones from AT&T I will say my phones have always looked like they were, and acted brand new. I dont know who you talked too, but I myself got prisitne refurbs from AT&T. I'm all for bashing any company, but AT&T has never done wrong by me. Especially on my iPhone refurbs

^^^ I'm not bashing anyone, although it would be quite easy to bash them. I'm just stating what I've read in these forums and in other places regarding AT&T refurbs.

Directly from the Dept. of Redundancy. My refurb from AT&T is perfect and cannot be distinguished from new. And yes, I do have OCD and the $49. price tag made it even better.

Yikes, I hadn't had my morning coffee just yet.

What I meant to say was "Apple's refurb process is much better than AT&T's."

You were fortunate. AT&T polishes and then reboxes the returns they receive and then they sell them as refurbs. There have been people who have received refurbs from AT&T that still had the old owner's information on them.
Apple takes the returns, swaps out any scratched/cracked parts, tests them to make sure there are no issues, wipes them clean, and then sells them as refurbs.

Well I just received the 16gb 3GS refurbished from att, and it does have small scratches on the back and on the nickel sides, the screen looks new though. but in overall is in good conditions.

I use a silicone cover so I dont care much about the rear mini scratches.

Wrong word choice, apologies! :) You were indeed not bashing.

That sucks for those who got bum refurbs though, mine were always mint, looked brand new! I'd always recommend a refurb since I had good experiences.

now do you have to sign another 2 year contract or what? Bc im not up for a upgrade yet and just have a 3g and wanting to get a white 3gs that price for a refurb is tempting

If you're not paying $500+, then you're signing a 2 year contract.

Man! I better get rid of my 3G on Ebay soon, before the bott falls out (who would want a 3g when the 3gs is avail?).

Yes, that would be the price for upgrade eligable account.
If you qualify for an early upgrade you'll be able to get it for $349 16GB 3GS and $449 for the 32GB

do they have refurb'd iphones at the stores, or do you have to order online only? how long does it usually take to deliver?

thinking about getting the 3GS refurb

ATT refurbished iPhone plan is STUPID! You only save $50 and you have to sign a 2 years contract. That's retarded. Why would I sign up with ATT and use a refurbished phone to save $50. I would rather pay the $50 to make sure that the dame iPhone work 100% (not to say that refurb doesn't).

Maybe if the refurb iPhone was half price from the NEW iphone then yea I might get on board. :D

It's not stupid, I started with ATT with my 3G, exactly after 12 months later I was able to buy the 3GS for $199 and renew the contract for 2 years. and that was 3 months ago.

I sold my 3GS 2 weeks ago to pay some bills etc, I tought I could live without it, I was wrong, so I went to ATT and saw the refurbished iphones, KEEP in mind that I just renewed my contract 3 months ago. A upgrade price for a BRAND NEW 3GS 16gb was $399, and a Refurbished 3GS 16gb was $249 so it was not a bad deal.

I sold my first 3GS unlocked for over $600 on ebay so it was good I paid with it the refurbished 3GS and pay some bills. My wife has the 3G and I'm saving her upgrade discount for the 4G when it comes out if it does :D
