So here's the deal:

I have had an LG phone with verizon for the past two years on my verizon's family plan. Now since our contract is up next week. I've talked my parents into switching to at&t (a huge milestone on my part towards the iPhone). However, with verizon we were able to get free phones. I was wondering if it is possible to go to the AT&T store, sign up for their family share plan, with one iphone and 2 other lines. My parents seem to be only going for this if they get free phones. We obviously would be signing a 2-year contract, but I was wondering if any of you guys know that such a deal exist?

I'm so happy, i've finally worked/saved enough money for an 8GB iPhone...I'm waiting till after to the 5th to see what happens and c just how good the new ipods are before I take the plunge.

Just one question that I haven't been able to find an answer to anywhere..can you e-mail pictures you take with the iPhone?

The iPhone has some cool transitions from app to app. It's just baubles and beads, I know, but the transition when selecting a photo to email is my favourite. When viewing the photo, you tap the little action icon. This brings up the choice to set the phto for a contact/wallpaper, or email it. Tap the email option and the photo shrinks slightly, then a blank email rises up behind it, then the photo settles into the email and you're ready to address and send it.

You should check out a localt AT&T store, they got plenty of offers with free phones etc..

Go to ATT store and get THREE new phones on their family plan (hold off on iphone for a couple of days). Port your verizon numbers over if you want. Once that is done, go back and buy iphone. Activate it and tell it that you want to move over a phone number from another ATT phone (the one you got free for yourself that you don't want that has your ported verizon number). Your 2 year contract starts over (does NOT add another 2 years). Sell free phone on ebay. Rejoice in your new iphone with a few extra bucks in your pocket.

Is there a zoom on the camera?

UHH... i want one so bad... i have to wait till sept 5th to c if i would prefer the ipod touch with wifi (of it has wifi), but still I do need a new phone...an ipod..and an internet communicator. So I guess it is justified.

I am acutally going to go to my AT&T store today. I wish there was an Apple Store on Cape Cod, MA. Owell

Thanks for all your help guys!

No zoom. If u wanna zoom in take 2-3 steps forward. Zoom out is a few steps back:D

only apple would take something as simple as zoom and revamp it back to the classic, step forward, step back approach. its what thier known for, simplicity!

Lol :D
No doubt, I figured with all this great new technology in this phone they could have put in a better camera but I guess not.

600 for a phone seems steep with all the stuff its missing(yes its probably the best phone at the moment) but i cant decide if i should wait until v2 to get it. gps missing is just kinda a deal breaker for me.

If you get a free phone for signing up with AT&T, you might want to keep it as a spare. Since the iPhone is so nice, it's good to keep a beater around. I put the SIM from my iPhone into a cheap moto phone over the weekend to take to the beach for the holiday. I don't mind salt, sand, etc, in the moto, but wouldn't want to take the iPhone to the beach. Also concerned about theft at the beach... anyway, coming from Vz myself, I really like the ability to swap phones with just the SIM chip.

Really?

GPS modules would seemingly be too big with too much of a battery draw...besides, do you really want a bunch of people knowing where you are all the time?

to never be lost and to be able to get directions to any location i can think of whenever i want. yea I would rather have gps than music on the iphone. cant remember when i used my ipod the last time...(wonder where i put that thing)

Post 30 woo :)

Most of the time I know where I am, not how to get where I want but google maps helps with that.

About the other application where people know exactly where I am at all times and pinpoint my location its a hell no.
Where you at baby?
Oh Im at my friends Bobs house.
Yeah right you liar, you're at your ex-girlfriends house. Im comming over to kick her ass and scratch your car right now :D
bwahahahhahahahaha:D
Those GPS locators are a bad idea.....

Does this really work? If you sign a two year contract to get a free phone, I can't see them dropping that contract and letting you sign a new two year contract for the iphone. It seems to me that they would add two years to the already existing two year contract. Has anyone actually tried this? Thanks. Jon

Dude

Dude no. You would have heard of the infamous four year contract before now.
It just resets your two year deal, in essence adding a few days onto it. It's a good deal.
