So, since we signed up for a two year contract, but didn't actually get a subsidized phone, can I not just go and get a subsidized phone to have as a spare?

Hrmm, its logical to believe that since I was forced into a 2 year contract, then I'd be eligible for a 2 year contract discount on a device.

Yeah, it would have been better to sign up a month or 2 before the iPhone was released to get a phone, then buy the iPhone.

A little known fact though for those of us current AT&T customers. Even though our contract date was reset, our upgrade date was not. In 2 months I will be eligible for an upgrade so I'll go to the AT&T store and get a discount on a phone and sign a new 2 year contract. Then I'll unlock it and sell the phone on ebay.

So wouldn't even us new customers be able to do this? I'm going to go to a corporate store and try it, I think a Samsung Sync might be a nice backup phone.
