AT&T Vancouver roaming fees - 79 cents a min!

I was planning on waiting in line to pick up one of these bad boys until I just called to find out about roaming fees in Vancouver. I leave for location in 3 weeks until Christmas and they want to charge me 79 cents a minute for roaming! That's awful. They have a $49 a month package I could sign up for that would make it only 59 cents a minute.

Insanity! Guess I'll have to wait until I return before picking one of these up. Here's to hoping they have a quick rev a by then.

How much is the data plan?

Can you use it in Canada for the same price..

(Yep high per minute prices there. I looked at the price for Tokyo and thought I am going to be using email a whole lot while I am there.)

It could still be viable if it is not that expensive. But 5 months of that rate is murder. No matter how bad I want this thing.

Not a perfect solution but buy a disposable in canada and use it for voice.

I am pretty sure there is no good plan when one goes from the US to elsewhere for phone plans other then buying a pay per minute cheapo phone.....
