I tried to connect by entering my phone number and was told it could not validate my number. Huh?

I used the service at McDonalds and had no problem. I'd call AT&T if your number isn't showing up as an iPhone.

called att and the first call was a guy who was... umm, lets say, and ass. he transferred me to the apple tech guy who said he didnt know about the phone side of things and that i should call att back.

called att again and talked to a guy who was more than helpfull. he had me dial in a number which produced my imee (?). it is a number specific to your device. turns out the last number was a zero instead of a four. after checking some other things he said that should do it.

now i just have to make it to a starbucks to try it out.

Nice, I bet it will work now.

When I get a rude employee I just hang up on them and call right back. ;)

i felt bad for the apple guy, it seemed like they were getting a lot of calls forwarded to them from att that maybe shouldnt have benn.

Don't hang up on them; they're rated on how many calls they handle per hour. So by cutting the call short, you're improving they're rating.

Instead, talk to them for like a half hour: "Wait, where's the button you're talking about...I don't see any button...I go this thing here that looks like a little circle with a square inside...yeah, but I don't think that's a button...wait, there's a silver button here on the side, is that what you mean..."

ROFL.
Nice one.
This is a very good idea and I think it would work wonders when the call is about a computer.
