Sorry if this has already been posted, but AT&T released a data estimation tool (http://www.att.com/standalone/data-calculator/index.html) relating to the new data plans. What do you think?

The legend illustrates AT&T's incorrect estimations on average data use when it comes to the iPad. 1 web page might have been 180 kb in the year 2000, but today they average 600 kb - 1 mb per page.

Another thing to remember is Mobile Safari does not cache any data aside from the address of the web page and a thumbnail of what it looked like when you had it open. This means that if you do anything to trigger your iPad to flush its memory such as opening more than one or two tabs or switching to an app, practically everything you just downloaded is gone and must be completely re-downloaded. Which is exactly why I still think this is true.

Would you happen to know if Atomic does the same?

i surprisingly found it to be brutally honest about data amounts.

With my conservative numbers, (read: nearly all sliders way to the left, except video streaming), it still showed a whopping 5.4 GB!

This picture i'm posting will be shocking to look at, but force yourself to do it.
Oh ATT.... the war is coming....

200MB a month is a joke. Watching just a few minutes of YouTube a day will destroy that.

Even 2GB is too skimpy, unless all you do is surf and check your email.

I started off with the 250MB plan and burned through it in 5 days.
YouTube, Netflix, downloading apps, it just won't last. I had to switch to the unlimited plan.

Couldn't there be a sense that there are certain tasks, such as streaming media, downloading music and apps etc. that are more appropriately done at home over WiFi?

With the music and video you stream... you couldn't download them at home, transfer them to your iPad and then play them whilst you're out?

For me the ablility to stream music and other apps like netflix is the reason I would purchase the 3G ipad. 2gb data is not enough.
