I realize that several have posted their issues with the MB/MBP wireless disconnects. I cant figure this out.

The MB arrived this morning. The airport worked flawlessly for the first several hours I used it. Then I used my MB today in class for 2 hours on the schools network and had no issues. Once I got home from class is when it began resetting the connection. It has gotten to the point where it will disconnect and reconnect me every 30 seconds.

I have all updates. I have reset and reconfigured the router. I have changed the channel and the encryption. My Dell laptop connects to it fine and has no issues. However my MB wont stay connected.

I really dont want to go purchase a new router in hopes that it will fix it because the MB purchase really left me broke for a few weeks. Could my connecting to the network at school affected it in any way? I have also turned my Dell off to see if that is interfering, doesnt help.

The only programs I am running are Safari and MSN Messenger or Yahoo Messenger. No file sharing programs. Other than the preinstalled apps, My MB has Firefox, Adobe Reader, MSN, Yahoo, and my schools VPN client.

Any advice?

If a new router would fix it, any relatively inexpensive routers I could purchase at Best Buy?

Thanks.

with my new macbook pro, it was working fine for a week then started acting up last night, i reset the airport and changed the channel and now it seems to be working fine knock on wood

I am having exactly the same problem. Before I adjusted my energy saving settings I noticed that I'd lose my connection every time the display would dim. It was just this pulsing bright to dim, connected to unconnected frustrating mess. I still keep getting disconnected every 30 seconds to 1 minute. Any ideas?

what kind of routers are you using.

i experience similar problems occasionally with my netgear wireless B.

also, i noticed i lost internet ALOT for brief amounts of time... turns out whenever she used the microwave, all wireless on the first floor and above would die! so it could also be interference.

No luck... I still keep getting disconnected. My old 17" and my iMac are staying online, but this new one just keeps dropping the connection and each time I have to go into my airport settings and re-select who I want to connect with.

but the other computers in the house work just fine. since turning on the interface robustness the connection has been dropped less, so i guess you might be right.

or, could this have anything to do with the updates i installed yesterday on the new macbook pro, but not on my old computers. this new mbp was working perfectly until i ran the update.

I dont know what could be interfering, I dont have the tv on or the microwave running

I am using a D-Link DI-514 802.11b wireless router. I had to revert back to it several weeks back becuase our belkin .11g router died. There are about 6 other networks that I can pick up signal for, I have changed ours to channel 7 however.

BUT..so far today my connection seems to be working ok *KNOCK ON WOOD* So we will see.

I've tried plugging directly from the modem into the airport and am still having problems. It's definitely not the router.

I guess I spoke too soon...mine has been acting upp ALL nite. Every 30 seconds to a minute it will reset.

It works fine when plugged in directly though. I guess I will have to scrounge up for a new router, try that route.

don't bother getting a new router. like i said, i tried just going straight from the modem to the airport and i still can't stay online. when the other 3 macs in the house work no problem, and this one i bought yesterday can't stay online, i will NOT be asked to go out and buy a new router. the problem's not the router, it's this laptop that i was all excited about getting for weeks and now want to throw out the FREAKING WINDOW!
