when looking for a new HD for my lappy, i am given 3 choices for specific kinds on newegg- ATA-6, SATA 3.0G/b, and Serial ATA 150, i assume its Serial ATA 150 because in a review for one of those (a toshiba) somebody said its the exact one apple uses in the macbooks. but i just wana double chek so i'm not sol.

Either of SATA 3.0Gb or Serial ATA 150 will work (the first is a faster version of the second but it's backwards compatible).
More importantly you need to ensure you get a 9mm tall 2.5" drive, not a 12.5mm tall 2.5" drive or a 3.5" desktop drive.

I was looking for a larger drive for my MBP today too. I came across a 2.5" 300GB drive. It said it was 3Gb/sec (instead of the 1.5 that is currently in my MBP), but it was a 4200RPM drive. How is that?
The 3Gb/s is the maximum theoretical transfer rate of the interface. It does not mean the drive is capable of that. I don't know of any laptop drive even capable of sustaining close to 1.5Gb/s.
