ATI 5770 vs ATI 5870?

HI all, I'm reluctantly thinking about buying a new 2012 (ha ha) 12 core 3.06 Mac Pro, and was wondering if the Ati 5870 is worth the extra money. I do 3d modeling using Lightwave, and hope to get better viewport acceleration. I currently own a 2008 dual quad core with an ATI 5770 installed. The acceleration is much better than the 2600, but still unimpressive. What do you think? Thanks.
