ATi HD2600 vs. x1600 (link to review)

being fluent in spanish helps a lot too :)

I just thought it would be something nice to keep people excited about the new macbook pro's.
 
While I would love to think a 2000 series ATI GPU will make it into the next MBP (hopefully updated at WWDC) I just don't see it happening.

If it does I feel very sorry for the poor guy who buys a MBP on June 10th, though thankful I'm not him :)
 
I think it's highly possible the next MBP won't have an ATI chip, but an nVidea GeForce chip.
Why? Well, for one, on the moment ati really sucks *ss compared to nVidea, and the MBP is a high-end product, so Apple will want it to have the best, and the best is nVidea atm, and ati doesn't seem to be coming closer for a LONG while.
Second: the AMD/ATI fusion in combination with the Apple-Intel cooperation. Since AMD/ATI have fused, Intel would rather see it's CPU's not in a machine in combination with a chip from their archenemy. Off course, Intel can't force Apple do switch, but seen Intel gave Apple the octocore Xeon-exclusive with the Mac Pro, Apple wants to keep their relation as good as possible.
So I think (and really hope actually) we'll se a GeForce 8*** chip in the next MBP :)

Do you really wanna start the ATI VS Geforce debate here? Tho I use a geforce myself, the ATI's high end offering was the market leader until the Geforce 8 series arrived...
 
You're not gaining much if you know Spanish. The majority of the images and buzzwords are in English. ~Spanish Major~

Seriously, if you can't figure out the specifications at least...

Nothing much more interesting then 20-40% CPU usage during HD playback and loads of RAM. I want real benchmarks and not synthetics or numbers from ATi.

It's far more likely that you'd see a Geforce 8400M in the MBP simply because the ATI mobility cards are nowhere near completion yet. They haven't even released the desktop cards to the market yet.

Since when? The MacPro is the "best" Apple machine and even that ships default with a (laughable) 7300 GT. Sure, if you consider the combination of price/performance/size/heat and come up with "the best" then sure, Apple wants the MBP to have the best. GPU performance seems to take a back seat in most of Apples computers, especially when it comes to design. Apple engineers look at the thermal output of the chips before *squeezing* them into the laptops, because they have to. Sure Apple could design a 2" thick beast with a killer graphics chip inside, but that doesn't fit anywhere in Apple's corporate strategy.

Also, you have to consider that what might be the best for the PC market may never be available for the Mac. But in all honesty, I'd not be surprised if the next MBP had a HD 2400 or the 8400 M in it. Whatever they decide (Either ATI or nVidia), I'll bet it's a DX10 capable GPU.

Perhaps you're referring to the other chips in the HD 2000 series lineup?
