Hi

My mate just got the 4870 for his Mac Pro (2008 i think) but doesn't have the cable to connect it to the logic board. It seems like he needs some sort of 6 pin to a smaller 6 pin plug. Any idea what sort of power cable it is?

Thanks

The card should've come with the necessary power cables... but he needs 2x of this 6-pin cables- they cost around $10us on ebay, but any computer store must have them.

Thanks for the quick replies.

Am i correct in thinking that one end (logic board) is a bit smaller but still 6 pin?

Thanks

Yes. The connector on the logic board side is smaller - about half the size, but keeps the same configuration and number of pins. At least that's how the 4870 on my 2009 MP came. I'm sure it's the same with the 2008 MP.

EDIT: Here is a better picture of both ends and a place to order it from via Amazon. Remember your need 2x, for about $10us a piece.

cheers!
