Just recently came upon this and thought maybe other ehmac users would find it helpful. For those of you with Power Macs or Mac Pros, this might be a good deal??

This was taken from RFD, posted here:

I'm not too familiar with video cards for the Mac so here goes:

Trade-Up Program

ATI's trade-up program allows you to upgrade your existing graphic card, no matter who made it, to the following boards listed below:

Radeon X1600 PRO 512MB PCI-E (CAD$149.00) --> CAD$229.00 - $80
Radeon X1600 PRO 512MB AGP (CAD$149.00) --> CAD$229.00 - $80
Radeon X1900 CrossFire 512MB PCI-E (CAD$369.00) --> CAD$449.00 - $80
Radeon X1900 GT 256MB PCI Express (CAD$319.00) --> CAD$399.00 - $80
Radeon X1900 XTX 512MB PCI-E (CAD$369.00) --> CAD$449.00 - $80

All-in-Wonder X1900 256MB PCI-E (CAD$219.00) --> CAD$299.00 - $80
All-in-Wonder X800 XT 256MB AGP (CAD$119.00) --> CAD$199.00 - $80
All-in-Wonder X800 XL 256MB PCI-E (CAD$319.00) --> CAD$399.00 - $80

Radeon® 9800 Pro Mac® Edition 256MB AGP USD$199.00-$50.00

So instead of purchasing a nicer video card for your tower, this might be a better alternative. Cheaper than from Apple too?

Maybe while we're on the topic, anyone care to explain to me what makes a video card suitable for a Mac? Is any PCI-E card supported? As the above list has the X1900 available which i seem to see a lot about from new Mac Pro purchases.

The only card that they have that is guaranteed to work in a Mac is the ATI Radeon 9800 Pro Mac Edition. All of the other cards would appear to be for PeeCees only. :eek:
