Thought we could use a post specific to ATT Black Friday "deals" on iOS devices. See:
https://www.att.com/deals/black-friday/
On first glance, there doesn't seem to be much in the way of real "deals".
The one exception is for trade-ins of models of just the right vintage. It kind of sucks if you have a newer device.
So, for example, if you want an iPhone 12 Pro Max, you get up to $700 off in bill credits with a smartphone trade-in value of $95 or higher. So, as I read this, you make out like crazy if you have am iPhone 8 to trade-in. If you have say an XS Max or 11 Pro Max, not so much.
I went through the order processing (without ordering) and verified that in fact the estimated promotional value for an iPhone 8 is $700, the same as my XS Max. It actually would make sense to go buy a used or refurbished iPhone 8 to trade-in! Just a quick search suggests you can get them for $200ish. Oh, yea, maybe cheaper? Just go for the model with smallest storage.
Incredibly, they list 12 Pro Max as an eligible trade-in. Why on earth would anyone trade-in a 12 Pro Max for another 12 Pro Max? Didn't like the color, and willing to pay $500 to switch the color?
Question: is Next Every Year now dead? And you have to pay $5/month extra for Next Every Two? (renamed Next Up)
