Now that Apple has a commitment from ATT for data pricing packages for the iPad, could the ability to tether an iPhone to a laptop work as well? It seems that this was a popular feature advertised quite some time ago that was a big deal at one time, but I have not heard much mention of it lately. If so, could this compete with the iPad if you have a 3Gs iPhone and an Apple laptop? I guess the next step would be the ability to load apps on a laptop.

What ever happened to tethering anyway?

Not sure if you were kidding or what, but I found no evidence of tethering in a ROCK or MyWi app or any other app.

Thanks for clearing that up. I was thinking that ATT would offer tethering. At least when I bought my iPhone that is what I was led to believe would be coming in the near future. I don't really want to jailbreak my phone.

Why? its safe, and the benefits are amazing! you can always undo jailbreak

I jailbroke to tether, but I hope AT&T comes out with tethering plans finally. I would like to be able to update my phone without playing cat and mouse.
