hey guys...i got my iphone on 30th fm the apple store at the mall but due to some unforseen reasons i hve to leave us for 6 six months, so i thought it would be wise for me to return the iphone as i didnt want to pay att bills for the time period i was not using it. i went to apple to return my iphone. Now apple told me that before I could return the phone back i should get my service terminated, which makes sense coz only then i would hve been able to use my other gsm phone wid the same number. so i call up att and tell then wht i want to do but att has a weird reply for it. wht they wanted me to do was to go to an apple store nd call att fm the store and make the customer rep at the store talk to them so as to insure that i returned all the equipment. i went to the store and when i told them about wht att wanted they were confused too. then after getting frustrated and making numerous calls to att they reverted my plan to the previous plan and ensured me that my previous sim will start working in feww minutes. it has been more than 24 hrs my iphone is still working. i dont know wht to do..........i hve been callin att but all they can say is tht ur iphone plan has been switched back to ur old plan...for the rest they want me to buy a new sim card for 25$ to make it working......this is a ripoff.....has neone faced this problem too or i m the only one......

Because you arr required to return the phone if you cancel your contract.

If they can not confirm you returned the phone, then they would have to charge you the early termination fee.

I guess Apple is handling the returns though.

Not a big deal. Just do it. Not sure what the big deal is.

It does not seem like you returned the iPhone. I am confused.

Got to be honest. Your post is amazingly confusing.

If you have to leave for 6 months, why is another AT&T phone okay but not the iphone? Why did you go to the Apple store and have them call AT&T but not actually return the iPhone?

no offense, but honestly, this is one of the most confusing and poorly written posts i have ever seen here. benefit of the doubt is given that maybe english isn't your first language, but if you are taking english lessons, i'm sure they are teaching you how to communicate effectively.

apple wont return the phone until the iphone is inactive. and i went to the apple store coz att people wanted to talk to apple store rep before they could switch back my service.when i made the apple store manager talk to att people then also att was not able to revert the plan and gave the apple store guy a new number to call. he was confused too. nd told me he could do nothing it is between me and cingular. and i wanted to return the iphone coz previously i was in family plan and had to pay 9.99 per month but for iphone i took the plan on my own account nd had to pay 79.99 per month which i dont wish to pay coz i wont be using the service for 6 months. hope i am a bit more clear now. i m too confused.

I was just about to post the same thing.

Why did you not just add the iPhone to the family plan? It would have only cost you $20 more dollars a month?

Just tell AT&T you screwed up and you wanted to add the phone to the account your old phone was already on.

ok guys sorry about my confusing post let me try to make it clear.
i was in family plan where i had to pay 9.99 per month.
i bought an Iphone and got out of family plan and took the 79.99 plan.
then due to some unforseen reasons i have to leave usa for 6 months and go to my home country, i dont wish to pay 79.99 per month plus the extra roaming charges on an international network.
i go to apple store where i bought the phone. tell them i want to return it. they tell me first get it deactivated from cingular.
i call up cingular tell them i wish to deactivate my service and revert to my old plan and wish to return iphone.
Cingular rep tells me go to apple store and make us talk to them, so that we are assured that you returned the equipment
i go to apple store and tell them wht cingular tells me to do.
manager at apple tells me it is weird be are not supposed to talk to them, but he calls up cingular and askes them wht is going on.
cingular rep gives him another number tells him to call up there and they plan will be reverted back. he calls but it is a voice mail box which wants apple store managers id number, which apple store manager says he doesnt hve and he cant help me.
i call cingular again ask them what to do. after 5-6 different reps at cingular one of them tells me he is reverting back the plan and iphone is off my account. further he tells me iphone will stop working as soon as he reverts and ur old phone will work.
now it has been 24 hrs and still my iphone is working. and other phone says inactive sim.
Now wht should i do. when i call cingular now they tell me your plan has been reverted back to as it was and there is no iphone attached to it. but guess what iphone is still working and other phone has inactive sim. today i will go to cingular store and ask them what is going on.

If you are going to keep the iphone and your other phone, why not just try trading out the sim cards?

Sorry if thats not what you want, but that typing is a mess. Not picking on you because of your skills, as it seems you aren't from this country and are doing better then I could do in another language.

But if you are from England you have problems :D
