Hello,

I was grandfathered into unlimited by ordering iPad on June 6. I recieved it on June 23. I spent two hours on the 24th to activate it using the 866 ATT ipad line.

On Wed June 30 I called ATT and asked them to change my current "2gb" plan to the unlimited. They did so but I now getting messages like this:

"Your 2 GB of data for 30 days for $25 rate plan has 10% of the plan remaining. Your next auto-renew date is 07-xx-2010. To purchase more prior to your next auto-renew date, please go to Settings on your iPad.

Thank You,
AT&T"

Should I be worried? Will I be charged overages? How do I clear this up? You can never be sure with ATT.

Thanks.

3g was shut down because I didn't "ADD" data. On the phone with ATT right now for 40 minutes. Sspent about 3.5 hours total on first upgrading to unlimited (2.25 hrs on hold on 866 #) then trying to get it cleared out because last CSR forgot to remove 2gb plan. I currently have unlimited(active) and 2gb (expired). Really annoying.

I keep seeing messages like these and it just annoys me that AT&T is trying everything possible to get people out of their current unlimited contracts. Whether its something like this, or extremely long CS hold times, or having to reapply for the unlimited from an iPad that should have had it there initially, to anything else they can do in order to make the customer 'forget' to renew, etc. etc.

Really poor form from AT&T. If you want to bait and switch, then fine, do so, but at least have the integrity to keep the plan in place that you initially advertised to legacy users without trying to weasel out of it in ten different ways.

No problem here. I just received an email from ATT that they just charged my card for renewal of the unlimited plan. Also on the general usage setting it reads I have 20 hours to go on the unlimited plan and then it will automatically renew again on the unlimited plan.

AT&T: No Mistakes Allowed

AT&T is waiting for us to make just one mistake in the renewal process to take away our 3G Unlimited Plan.

Mine still says 2GB, after almost 2 weeks since I called, so I'm starting to worry.

Gee, they aren't SUPPOSED to charge you until 2 hours before.... per the email they sent the 2 times i signed up.

20 hours is better than the 2-3 days before i heard they were doing last month.

I can't agree with IceMan. I got a message that they couldn't renew the unlimited service because of a problem with my credit card (I forgot to send in the new CC numbers when it was renewed) I was on the phone for a little while, but the AT&T rep was very helpful and the matter was taken care of.

I was suspicious because she asked me to choose the 2GB plan when asked to, but she explained that since it was the only one I could see to choose I would have to do that and then she could change it.

Except for a blunder on my part it all went very smoothly and at no time did I feel they were trying to find an excuse to end my unlimited plan.
