Just saw a brand new billboard go up in my neighborhood. (Took a picture with my cell phone but I can't figure out how to get it out of the damn thing) The billboard simply said:

Reinventing Television

Formerly Cingular ATT

That's it! And it was brand new (as confirmed by the recent rebranding campaign) The questions I pose for the forum are:

1. Do you think that rumored ATT/AppleTV IPTV network is coming sooner than everyone knows.

2. Do you believe that ATT reinventing television involves streaming TV to the iPhone.

What would you early AppleTV adoptors like to see in an Apple/ATT television reinvention???

This has nothing to do with the rumor of Apple and AT&T in cahoots. This is there roll-out of their IPTV service, U-Verse, which has nothing to do with Apple. Where did you see the billboard? Tell me and I'll look up to make sure that U-Verse is what's being advertised.

Sorry folks, move along.

I agree, the U-Verse ads are coming out and the service sucks right now since the internet is still based on DSL even if you get the U-Verse.

I like to think U-Verse as cable TV, just over fiber instead of copper. They are the same since they still use the same bandwidth. It's AT&T's way of ruining something that could have been great.

Now Verizon's FiOS on the other hand...  Hot damn! 50Mbps download! I'd kill just for 1Mbps!

AT&T was in the cable business before as AT&T Broadband when they bought TCI and before that, MediaOne. The AT&T company of that day really sucked at running a cable business (no vision and stuck in the old ways of doing things) but maybe Cingular/AT&T can do a better job this go-around. And isn't that what we're all hoping on the cell phone side as well?!?

Yeah, but it going to take YEARS(!) before it is available in 'older' neighborhoods.
Yep, and I am in one of those "older" AT&T neighborhoods.:(

I'm sorry, but I'm a little confused. What does this have to with what we are talking about? I'm not being rude, I'm just a little confused.

Don't be confused ... that AT&T died. SBC basically bought the name and a few holdover business phone services, then rebranded themselves AT&T because it had a larger national mindshare. None of the management of the old AT&T is around, it's all SBC guys.

It's the same thing as walking into an electronics store and seeing Westinghouse and Memorex TVs ... those products have nothing do to with the defunct companies that once bore the name, Chinese manufacturers bought up the rights to the brands ... a cheap way to build brand awareness.
