Went to two ATT Corporate stores and neither would sell me a Moto X at the retail price. I was told I had to order online, even though they had plenty of inventory.

Guess I'll just keep my iPhone 5. Good reminder of why I've been loyal to Apple, they would never treat a potential customer like this.

Did the carriers sell unlocked iPhone 5's the few days after they were released? I think people had the same challenge with the GS4.

My AT&T store would sell me one off contract but they only had white 16gb and I wanted black 32gb. Different stores will tell you different things. When I bought the S4 off contract one Best Buy by my house wouldn't match AT&T's price and the other one I went to did.

Sign up for a two year agreement, pay $200 up front for the phone, cancel your contract and pay the $325 ETF.

Yeah, that would work. But why wouldn't Best Buy just sell for the same price as ATT?

I stopped shopping at Best Buy a couple of years ago because of the way that they handled iPad 2 pre-orders. In my experience, Walmart has better customer service.

*edit* Best Buy won't price match?

Not on the Moto X. I made them go to the ATT site.
I really think BB makes up rules and policy as the go on the fly store by store.. Their customer service sucks most of the time. But they do have some good people working fro them. When i tried to get a S4 they would not sell one to me. But the next BB farther away would....makes no sense. Ether it is policy or it isn't......

Is it possible to do that and keep your old phone number?
What i did was go to my local AT&T store and told them I wanted to upgrade my line. Even though it was not eligible for an early upgrade and wanted to pay full price for the Moto X. So this way I could keep my number. I paid $580 for the Moto X. I have 2 weeks to decide if I want to keep it. If i return it i pay a $35 restocking fee.

My local best buy price matches att online. Also my local att would allow me to buy outright.

Sure... Just sign up and get a new number. When you cancel the account and pay the ETF, you'll lose it. If your old line a separate account, it shouldn't be affected.

When you cancel the account, don't they ask for the phone back?

Really don't understand why this phone is so difficult to buy.

Because it's a hot new phone and the sales reps make more money when people sign up for 2-year contracts instead of buying a phone outright to use on prepaid?

Basically, you need to wait until the 2-year contract customers that they get paid for are taken care of first.

Best Buy can priced match anything except phones its not because they don't want to it's how they are contracted to sell them. I know I work for them as to the bad customer serves some may have gotten I am sorry but we do have rules we have to follow. If a Best Buy price matched a phone that's at the managers choice and he would know the hit we are taking. If you don't like it fine go some where else. And as for buying a phone out right I know for a fact that any Bust Buy can all it at full price if a customer wanted to buy it out right. Sorry if any Best Buy Mobile employee was rude or not nice. I can only speak for myself and say I try to be fair and constant in my sales and be the best for my customers.

Man he is buying the cell full retail price without any contracts so please tell us how best buy is getting screwed when they are selling the phone off contract for more then the msrp the cell is listed at.you didn't see that best buys full retails pricing is always like 100-175 more then msrp and always more then every other store for buying the phone unlocked.the op is only asking best buy to freaking price match the phone to its actual real price that its supposed to be if bought right from the maker.

Op go to Walmart and get it off contract. I bought a moto RAZR x full retail in about 2 min.

Kid asked me if I want to sign up and I said I just want the cell unlocked and 2 seconds later scans it and asked cash or credit and came out to 599 bucks.

No bs and was out the store in 5 min

Your reply makes no sense...did you read what I posted? If BB is under contract to the carriers to NOT price match mobile phones. The why do they do it some times and not other times? As other posters and I have found it varies from one BB to another. So if they are under contract as you say then they violate it based on the mangers discretion. That supports my original statement that BB makes the rules and policies up as they go......they choose to follow their own contracts and or policy from store to store.....
And as for going somewhere else...........from what I read BB is losing sales and reducing stores and minimizing floor space buy SELLING floor space to an vendor willing to cough up the bucks......like MS Apple....Samsung......
You go online to buy something from BB and it actually comes from other online retailers....yeah....they are a sinking ship.......

First off we don't dictate the pricing the manufacture does second yes if the manager matched a price he would be breaking a rule that's why its his discretion. Lastly it has more to do how we negotiate prices with said manufactures. They dictate said price and if you don't like it fine go somewhere else. And typically we don't sell unlocked phones in store but do online. And unlocked phones are usually cheaper then the carrier locked phones. I am not saying I agree with said policies but if you don't like it go somewhere else at the end of the day I don't really care.

I got my Note 2 price matched at BB last december. They had it for 799 while vzw had it for 699. They didn't even hesitate to do the price match.

Best buy is price gauging the msrp pricing and selling the phones off contract higher then there msrp.

The op is only trying to ask them to match what the cell is supposed to be priced at in the first place.

You speak as if you are an official spokes person for best buy and have zero credibility.

So you are saying manufactures make best buy sell the phone higher then what they sell it for?

Price match at BB, they have to give you the price. Bring the BB policy and if they don't budge ask for manager or call BB directly while on the store in front of the manager.
