So now the machine wont go into osx. just shows the screen with the backlight turned on. I do hear the chime when it turns on but thats about it.

Tried to boot into a recovery USB and nothing.

Tried SMC rest and PRAM/NVRAM reset and nothing.

No idea what to do next. Im thinking trying to put the old battery back....

I changed my own MB battery from around the same generation and bumped into a similar experience. What worked for me was disconnect the battery cable from the board and then plug it in again, try again. Failed. Disconnect from board, wait a minute or two, plug it in again, try again. Failed. Eventually after what seemed like about 8 rounds of this, it worked and has been fine since (actually "like new" with very impressive battery life).

I have no idea why it took so many tries (the plug seems to accommodate the cable only 1 way and I could practically swear that it was plugged in right every time, nothing special about try #8) but about 8 was the charm.

You might also try a few other things like connecting power to see if the system shows battery being charged. That should be visual confirmation that battery is connected. If so, give it a while and then unplug power to see if battery takes over. Maybe your new battery is dead and letting it charge in MB for a while might resolve your problem.

This is the kit with the liquid to help soften/loosen the adhesive?

Any of the moisture indicators turn red?

I have replaced the battery in a late 2013 and mid-2014, both 13" units but didn't use any chemicals to help with the removal of the old battery. I used a piece of thin nylon string to slice through the adhesive in a back and forth sawing motion. Took a bit of effort but it worked.

I have tried what you said a couple of times, I had things disconnected and tried building the thing up and checking all connections. I reconnected the battery a bunch of times. I even tried connecting the old battery and nothing.

The battery is charged because I was doing all this with out power adapter and I left the battery charging yesterday.

Yes is the kit with the adhesive remover. I did not use much of it.

No indicators on.

That's a good sign. You may need to disassemble the MacBook again and reseat all the cables as suggested.

Also, try an external monitor to see if you can at least backup important data before attempting another repair.

I did not have anything useful as it was not my main machine.

I have tried the disassemble and reassemble process 3 times already....
