I read in this article, that Face ID supports attention aware features.

My question is:
With this disabled, is a "Black Mirror" scenario possible, where a content provider requires you to:

"Please, look back at the screen with open eyes."
Or
"Please, enable attention awareness to view content."

in order to push advertising prior to loading content?

(Currently, I mute the volume and put down the phone)

With Apple I think you don't need to worry about that, Face ID will most likely be restricted to unlocking your phones. With Google, however, I think it's a very good business opportunity for them and they will surely look into it in the future.

Imagine: it's a paradise for them if they can know how much time you looked at the ads, which part of the screen are you looking at, what emotion do you express when u see the ads, etc. etc. the possibility is unlimited (and they don't even need the level of accuracy of Face ID to do that - any front camera with decent resolution will do).
