This is not a another thread war which one is better. But a friend of mine, is in need of money, rather than lending him some money. He is selling me his slightly use Apple TV 3. But I already have a Apple TV 2, and I don't know if 1080p gonna benefit me. For I only have Ipad 2 and a DSL connection. But I have a extra TV that I can hook it up. What is the difference between the two.

The ATV 3 will probably receive update firmware for a longer period of time.

If you own any HD content on iTunes (and it's available in 1080p) and your TV can display 1080p content, you may see a difference depending on how large your TV is and how far away from it you sit.

At this point, you can't jailbreak an ATV 3.

As far as I can tell, those are your real differences.

Cool... Im not into jailbreaking but I might try it on my ATV2 then, if I already got a Apple Tv 3 as a backup.

The 3 has the A5 processor (2 has A4) and the 3 has double the RAM (512MB), we have had both but no noticeable difference. The only real difference between 2 and 3 is 1080p but you have to have the content and TV to match.

As said above, there is no jailbreak for the 3, so if you're not bothered about 1080p, then the 2 is the one to go for.
