My daughter purchased a TV Series from the iTunes Store and had it directly downloaded to the Apple TV (1st gen). Is there any way for me to recover these videos back to my computer for permanent storage and backup (these are purchased videos, not rented).

I don't see the ATV device in either iTunes or Finder (latest versions). The ATV is hard wired to the same network as my computer and I can send videos and photos to the ATV.

Thanks,

I did get the sharing connection re-established so that I now have a "Apple TV" entry under "Devices" in iTunes on my computer again. Thus I should be able to send videos/photos/music to the Apple TV from the computer.

My questions still remains: Is it possible to send items which were purchased/downloaded directy from the Apple TV ... back to the computer for safekeeping/backup?

If you have it synced then yes it should transfer back to your computer for storage.

purchases should sync to the iTunes library automatically, presuming that iTunes and AppleTV are using the same iTunes account. If they aren't, I'm not sure what will happen - the series might be removed from the ATV on sync. It should warn you before that happens though.

in iTunes, under the Store heading on the left, I have an item named "Purchased on myname's Apple TV". You should see something similar if everything is set up correctly, and those TV shows should end up in that playlist.

Hmmmm ... I don't have an entry for the "Purchased on ATV" under the STORE heading. They are on the same account. Thanks for the info, this will give me something to research further.
