I've got a friend who is having problems with movies he is trying to rip and stream to his new apple tv. I'm not sure of the exact nature of the problems other than he keeps getting choppy video, even on itunes before attempting to stream. He's been pulling his hair out with this for more than a week and hasn't been able to figure it out even by searching these forums and others. The problem may be very simple, but neither of us knows much about the finer points of ripping video. Is there anybody here, who is fairly knowledgeable about these things, who is willing to try and help him troubleshoot over email/im/telephone? I know he would be very grateful if someone could help him get it working the way he would like it to.

we are here to help, but you left out some vital information. We can't help if you don't know the problem.

-Exactly what type of problem is he having?
-What program are you using to Rip?
-Are you on a Mac or PC?

I will try and help, but I want to keep it to this forum (no IM/E-Mail/Call)

Saving107, thanks for the response. He actually has given a little more detail in a post here from a couple of days ago, but he has had zero responses so far. I decided I'd try and help him out by just asking if anybody here thought they might be able to solve his problems. Here's the link to his post, though it should be just a little further down on the first page of this forum, under the title "itunes/apple TV and iPod touch issues" and the user name tanner99k.

what version of iTunes does your friend currently have installed.

their was an update to iTunes a few weeks back (iTunes 10.0.1) that included some bug fixes, including the correction of choppy video. I had this problem to, until I updated my iTunes and now that has been fixed.

- Addresses an issue where the picture quality of a video changes depending on whether the on-screen controls are visible.
- Resolves an issue where iTunes may unexpectedly quit while interacting with album artwork viewed in a separate window.
- Fixes a problem that affects the performance of some third-party visualizers.
- Addresses an issue where the iTunes library and playlists appear empty.
- Resolves an issue that created an incompatibility with some third-party shared libraries.

for reference, here are some screenshots of my settings that work for me. (first I click on the iPhone settings under the Preset Tab, this way I know it will play on any of my iPhones/iPod touch's, then I change the filters and settings so that I get a much cleaner and larger image)
