I thought I would share this funny story that cost me $21. Maybe it will save someone else a lot more.

I have 2 ATV's (Living room, Bedroom) an iMac in the office and a new unibody MBP 17" for floating to and from home. I Stream Movies around to everything from the iMac and thought it SURE would be nice to have one Universal Remote for the living Room? I chose the Logitech 510 and I have to reports it works great and very easy to program and use.

I'm parked in my easy chair watching the Oscars and sucking down one of my favorites (Michelob Golden light). I decided I wanted to check on something in my office so I sat down at my iMac and happen to switch screens where iTunes was up and running. I noticed that i was downloading the 3rd season of Arrested Development!

I was STUNNED! and so i sat there a moment in amazement? Then I decided to ask my son if he by chance purchased it? After he said no I looked at the iMac screen again and noticed it was being downloaded from ATV in the Living room! Hahahahaha. Hmmmm......I'm the only one who holds the remote and knows how to use it. (Done that way on purpose).

It turns out even tho I'm not using ATV and actually watching the TV the remote still controls the ATV at the same time it also is controlling my TV. Just wish it had downloaded or purchased something I would watch. I don't watch that show and have never seen it.

:)

Whoops? I laughed at myself for an hour over this one. DOH!

So now I have to decide? do I use one remote or go back to the trusty ATV Remote?

This might have been the best thing that's ever happened to you. Arrested Development is amazing. Even if you start by watching the 3rd season first like I did!

Depends on how you programmed the remote for the TV. If you used the tv learning function, then you need to make sure you switch your remote to a component that you don't have/use in your system before you tell the tv to learn the signals. Otherwise if the remote is set to control say your dvd player or tv, and you then tell tv to learn the remote it will learn the same signals as the tv or dvd player. It will then start controlling both devices depending on which buttons you push.

There's no reason to go back to the AppleTV remote, you just need to make sure that you only control the ATV when you want to control the ATV. That all depends on how you set it up.

I use a Logitech Harmony One for my entire home theater system, AppleTV included, and it works great (plus I've never downloaded anything by accident).

Arrested Development is hilarious IMHO.

That said, the 3rd (and last season) was probably the worst of the lot. The show was dying a slow death and the writing had no sense of direction really. It still had its moments of brilliance even then somehow!

The simple solution was to just re-do the programing on the Universal remote. Things work fine now and I won't be buying anything without intent. It's still funny.........

ps. I did watch the show and you are all right, it's a great show.

I still can't believe I did that. :)
