ATV USB Creator, 2.3.1 Compatible?

I'm following the simple instructions on this site for installing Boxee and XBMC but wondered if its still safe after the recent firmware update.

The patchstick creation/usage is compatible (I just used it to hack my recently upgraded ATV). However, I read that XBMC isn't yet, so I check it OFF when I made the patchstick (as I don't use Boxee either). I installed the most recent ATVfiles and NitoTV which give me roughly the same functions as XBMC.

All is well so far.

Thanks for the quick reply. Yeah, I'm probably in the same boat and don't really see the point of Boxee's social media player or the ugly XMBC menu's. The only thing that looks interesting is maybe access to CNN and other sites you can stream off but didn't see BBC iPlayer listed.

I'll just install the others now, it's my first time even though I'm a launch day 160GB owner.

Hatter, Did you have trouble with Nito's networking stuff in 2.3? I used ATVUSB creator and couldn't get anything to read from the network using Nito's installers. I was able to manually ssh in and create SMB mounts but I was counting on doing AFP mounts too. (and using the GUI would be nice rather than CLI)

I've been holding off on doing a 2.3.1 upgrade until I found out more...

I got Nito to mount my SMB share. I haven't tried AFP since my media is stored on a HP MediaSmart.

That's my main reason for using Nito, as it's been jerky playback with my WiFi setup via Nito. So I use it to mount my share, and play the files via ATVfiles.

Heh, same here. ATVfiles is more to my liking (mplayer's UI in Nito isn't as pretty as I would like.) The only trouble is Nito consistently causes a finder reboot when I try and mount a network share. I've restored a bazillion times but it's always the same deal. I'll probably give it another go whenever I do my 2.3.1 update, and maybe there will be later versions of Nito and/or ATV-USB Creator.
