ATV2 and iTunes/Perian?

Is it possible to install Perian on my Mac and stream divX or other formats that Perian will decode onto the current, $99 version of AppleTV?

Or would I have to hack it in order to stream content which is not by default supported by iTunes?

no this is not possible!

but you can jailbreak your atv and install plex on it. then you can stream divx and mkv and other file formats from your mac to the atv!
