ATV2 Ethernet

I finally bought an ATV 2 last night and love the easy set up. One disappointment (my own fault for not checking, I accept) is that the Ethernet is apparently only for connecting the device to the network. It cannot be used to connect an Internet-enabled TV/PVR etc to the network using the ATV as a hub.

Since I like using BBC iPlayer on my TV, I'm going to have to move my router back next to my TV if I can. Any thoughts/advice on how this should be done? Should I connect ATV to the router by Ethernet or can it remain on wifi? Will there be any risk of interference etc if I use wifi and have the ATV and router about a metre apart?

I guess I now need to think about ripping my DVDS etc.

Optical cable from ATV TO DTS 7.1 Surround system

All devices then stream wirelessly to the router, and then the TV and DTS. They are next to each other (the draytek is screwed to the wall next to the TV)

Works a treat!

Cheers. I'll sort out the changes later.

My ATV is currently wireless with HDMI into my Sony DH820 AV receiver. A Sony Blu Ray and a HUMAX Freeview PVR also feed into the receiver before then outputting via HDMI to my 32" Panasonic TV.

My slightly noisy NAS can now move out of the hall (connected to master phone socket via my router) into my study/3rd bedroom using the airport Express I used for AirPlay.

Next stop is a new Mac to run iTunes and for trying to do more photo work.

Some people's experience is that apple tv works a little better on Ethernet, though I run mine via wifi. I also have my TV's Ethernet pluged into an Express along with my stereo, and also a radio in the kitchen with built-in wifi for Internet radio.

My router in on ther other side of the house and all devices stream just fine, often simultaneously.

Gigabit Ethernet all the way. WiFi is always a last resort for me personally.
