Hi All.

I'm about to set my father up with a new TV and, most likely, an ATV. The goal is to give him access to rips of our DVD collection. Renting content from Netflix, will be a seldom (and most likely never) used feature.

I've heard some things about the ATV2's treatment of owned content that has me concerned. Ideally, I'd like to have the box list all the movies under "Movies" and all the TV shows under "TV Shows", but apparently those categories are only for ITMS content? And everything stored on local computers gets filed under "Home Sharing". Am I right on that? Furthermore, apparently there is no real sorting or categorizing under the "Home Sharing" section, you just get an obnoxiously long list of titles. So, if I were to load every episode of all the Star Trek series in there, I'd have to scroll through 700+ episodes before continuing to the rest of the list?

The first issue, I could adjust to... the second would be a dealbreaker. It's senseless to scroll through every episode of every show just to find what you want. Is the interface for the original ATV better in this regard?

Where can I find screen caps of an ATV2 navigating through a large Home Sharing collection?

Thank you all for any help you could offer.

When you choose the appropriate library via Homesharing, various categories appear. These are Music, Movies, TV Shows etc.

Music can be sorted by Artist, Album, Genre, and I think others.

Movies can be sorted by Title, Genre and Unwatched.

TV Shows can be sorted by Date, Show and Unwatched. When sorted by Shows, the list appears with one entry for each season of a show. EG, your list might go:

Angel, Season 1
Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Season 1
Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Season 2 etc.

Hope this helps!
