I have just noticed that the Australian price for the iMac has been adjusted taking into account the rise in the AUD against the USD.
For a 2.93 with a 1 TB HDD, 3 year applecare, and 4 GB RAM which was A$3,157.01, is now A$2,957.01, a $200 drop! Good news for Aussie buyers.
This is the email I sent to Steve Jobs about the disparity on the 21/10/2010
Dear Mr Jobs,
My name is **** ****** and I am from Australia. I am shortly going to purchase an BTO iMac but I have noticed something which I wish to have explained to me before I make the purchase.
Usually the Australian dollar is worth approximately 70 US cents, however recently the AUD has been almost at parity with the USD. There has been no adjustment to the Australian price of the iMac to reflect the change. We here in Australia have been disadvantaged by these turn of events.
I would respectfully request an answer to this burning question. This has been a big discussion point here in Australia and I have noticed that many, many people have put off their purchase of your fantastic products because of this.
I look forward to your reply and I hope that you are able to find the time in your obviously busy schedule to help me with this inquiry.
With the greatest respect,
***** ******
I'm not suggesting my particular email was the catalyst for the change but it may have been one of many that may have instigated it!
