Audacity for iPad app

Would be really AMAZING in my opinion, I'd definately use it. I'd like to start work on such an app, but don't know where to begin? Anybody want to join in on an app that would be really popular?

It includes mac os code too. Not real sure how we can convert this program over to iPad, ideas?

i know its not audio recording and more of a midi sequencer but check out xewton (http://www.xewton.com/) for the iPhone.. i can just picture an iPad version (having more processing capabilities should allow audio recording alongside midi sequencing finely in my opinion)
