Audio dropout

Hopefully not covered elsewhere.
I have a 2011 Mac-mini 8g ram connected via hdmi directly to a Sony Bravia TV
The TV in turn connects to a Sony surround sound system and controls this system.
When watching a movie on the Mini I will switch to TV to watch something then switch back to the Mini. Occasionally the audio wont be there even though it still shows it as being controlled by the TV.
The only way I can get audio back is by rebooting the Mini.
Wonder if using the HDMI Detective would cure this issue.
Should mention I use the Harmony One to control the setup.

Might be the order of the devices in your setup and what you're asking of them?

Is your Sony surround sound a receiver? If so I'd recommend plugging your mini in through the receiver, and having only the receiver send input to the TV. Perhaps asking the TV to receive an input, process it, and send it back out might be too much for the TV to handle on a consistent basis?

I run a mini as a HTPC plugged in via HDMI through my receiver. I've never had a problem with it. Good luck

I'm inclined to agree with you.

I have my Mini connected to my Onkyo surround sound receiver using an HDMI cable. My PS3, Xbox 360 and Sky box are connected the same way. I then have a single HDMI cable connecting the receiver to my Sony Bravia HD TV. I have no problems regards sound.
