OK, i recently updated all my software (not through software update which crashes every time i run it, but that's a different concern) As of right now, I have no audio-everything is plugged in, power is on, etc. however, under system preferences/sound/output, it says "No Output Devices Found" This is including the internal speaker, as well as external speakers which are still making the start up noise.
I've tried repairing permissions-any other suggestions?

thanks, matt

-also, none of the keyboard shortcuts for sound work (volume up, down, mute...)

Try a hard shutdown and restart, shut the machine down and wait 30 secs, then start from the power switch. This cured my disappearing Bluetooth problem on my 17"Pb, it may work the same way.

Problem Solved

As of right now, everything works-Pretty simple fix, reinstalled OS 10.3.3-fixed immediately.

Thanks for your help!

Just the update... of course, i wish i thought of that before i backed up all 84 gigs of files on a portable drive... Oh well, I'm just glad it works.
