My son is using an old iPhone X. It is having intermittant audio issues with both the loud speaker and ear speaker not working. They'll work for a few days then die. Calls can be heard using wireless earbuds. Seems a little unlikely that both speakers are failing simultaneously. Is this an IC issue?
Is there any point replacing the speakers, or should I just bite the bullet and pay for a replacement ic to be fitted?
Thank you.

If both speakers are behaving the same when the error happens on an iPhone X, the likely cause is that the two boards are separating. Reflowing the broken solder points usually fixes this issue.

If you want to make sure this is the case and you feel safe opening the phone, you can verify this issue when the speakers are not working by placing a bit of pressure on the motherboard with your finger and see if the sound comes back.

Thanks Lekro. That sounds like a probable fault.
