Hi everyone,

I have a MacBook Pro 16" with the M3 Max processor, and I've noticed a strange issue with the audio. Some movies I watch using VLC are very quiet, even though I’ve set the mode to stereo. I’m also experiencing a similar issue with Netflix when using Safari, where the sound is much quieter compared to Chrome, where the volume is significantly better.

Has anyone else encountered similar problems, and if so, is there a solution?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Make sure that your audio output device is correct and your software is up-to-date. Try playing media in different apps and check for audio settings within those apps. If the problem persists, reset your audio settings or restart your Mac.

Dude, I literally had the same problem, and this is what I did, and it worked. but you don't need to be a genius to realise that the problem is in the broweser so Safari and Chrome, check the audio settings in each browser, I bet one of them is messed up

I tried to check all possible settings but no luck. Can you explain what exactly you did to fix the issue?
Do you have the same problem as I do? On HBO Max service, everything is very quiet, while when I'm using headphones, the explosion and battle scenes are very loud, but the dialogues are very quiet. From what I understand, it's a problem with Dolby Atmos, meaning it doesn't work well on stereo systems.

Not necessarily the same, I don't use HBO, only Netflix. My volume in Netflix is generally low even with headphones or laptop's speakers. I don't see any settings in Safari related to audio so my guess that it is a bug. I am on MacOS Sequoia.
