Reports are emerging of problems with significant audio latency in the new Pro models, with the view that the audio buffer is filling up and speculation that the new refresh rate is the cause.

Some earlier reports indicated an improvement/fix with the latest IOS 11 beta but these appear to be a false hope.

Q: Is this likely to be a hardware or a software problem?

I have a new 12.9 arriving in a few days but as an amateur musician I think I will be inclined to return it if this isn't going to be an easy/quick fix.

I actually just experienced this with wired headphones.

I probably spent about an hour running between Korg Gadgets, BeatMaker 3, and then I went to GarageBand, where I experienced latency. I unplugged the headphones and plugged them back in, it went back to normal.

Truthfully, I'm not too bothered by it. I'm positive Apple will fix it, and I don't rely on the iPad for performance where that matters. I more so just export to Dropbox and work through Logic.

[doublepost=1501442953][/doublepost]That fits with reports. Unplugging headphones fixes it and it does not occur with the built in speakers. You might well think that it is down to the headphone port but it has been reported with headphones attached to external audio interfaces too.

Well, the new 12.9 has arrived, and it does have the problem.

This is a total killer for me. I bought the Ipad pro 10.5 and updated to ios 11 and still having latency problems. The headphone work-around is not helping as the problem even exist when I'm using only the ipad speakers. The problem seems to be more apparent with apps like Beatmaker 3 and Beathawk, but I hear some folks have the same issue with Garageband. If I can get this fixed by this week, I'll have to return my iPad since I'm still within the 14 day return period.
