Hey,

I don't post often here, but I figured I would ask this question.

Does the Mac Mini support microphone through the audio out? As in if I have a headset that has a microphone built in, like the Apple Headphones, will I be able to transmit over VoIP? Also with Windows?

I plan to purchase the Mac Mini as my dedicated gaming computer, as I travel to tournaments and this will be loads easier than taking a full tower, or even a mid tower, around and on long drives. The only game I play is Counter-Strike: Source, and I know I can achieve over 120FPS with the higher configuration.

I just want to know how to plug a microphone into this bad boy without using a USB adapter.

Thanks. :p

You would need one that used the line in and line out. Not many options like that. your best bet is a USB headset with mic pickup

I know that, hence why I was asking.

When I get it, I will use my ZOWIE Hammer USB headset, since I get products like this for free to review on my site.

I own a pair of B&W P5s too, and when I get them back I will just use those, since they have the Apple talk or whatever you want to call it. That should work with the Mac Mini as a microphone, even in Windows 7, right?

One would hope. :p

False.

Mini supports standard iPhone headsets with mic via audio-out connection. It's a feature listed on Mini spec page. I use mine for Skype calls every day.
