On my new 15" MBP, i have this odd problem where the audio will 'pop' seemingly if my speakers have been inactive for a certain amount of time. It will pop, and then play the sound. It's almost as if the sound is sleeping and gets woken up when it realizes it's time to produce a sound through the speakers...and then it pops.

Now, I used to own a Titanium PowerBook G4, and i remember at some point with Tiger on that machine when I was on battery power, this happened. I read that it was a way to save battery (essentially sleeping the audio hardware until it was going to be used, causing the pop sound)...but why is this happening on an MBP that is plugged into the AC power source?

Do other people experience this? Is there a fix?

I believe that's due to a change in the way the OS manages power with audio since 10.4.9 or 10.4.10 (please correct me). Been a small annoyance for a while.

yes they apparently sent out an update that would "fix" that problem... but I didn't fix mine. Alas, there seems to be little you can do.
