Audiobook Playback position

I have an Iphone 3G with version 3 software.

I now listen to more Audiobooks and Podcasts than I use to and the feature for remembering playback position is hugely beneficial. This did work at one stage on audiobooks that I created myself, but has recently stopped working and playback always commences from the beginning, not the last stopped position. Podcasts do not work either, however this function is working for videos.

The Audiobook I am currently listening to has been download direct from my phone via itunes app, as have the podcasts. I have also double checked that the playback selection options have been checked within the properties of the files in Itunes and they have.

I have tried restarting the phone and various methods of pausing or not pausing playback and nothing works.

This function used to work for Audiobooks for me, all settings within Itunes are correct for the file nothing has really changed other than the upgrade to the version 3 software, however I was have a issues with this prior to the upgrade also.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this problem. Its frustrating have to write down my position each time I stop listening to the book/podcast.

Audiobook Playback position

I have a similar issue with podcasts, except I know the cause of mine: I use a USB sync cable to charge from my work PC, which is NOT the PC I sync my podcasts with. Even though iTunes on that machine is all set to NOT sync at ALL automatically, when I plug in to charge, it "syncs" briefly. I then lose all playback info since my last "real" sync.

And yes, it is a major pain to have to keep track of my playback position by memory...

Thanks for this, I also charge/synch my phone at work, the only addition to what you do is that I synch my Calendar only at work and music/audio etc at home.

I can try some testing to see if this is the cause for me also.

One thing I do instead of trying to remember playback position is to create a note with the notes app, as I can't rely on playback position working correctly.
